Full Itinerary

Join an expert local guide to take a walking tour of Riga and experience its architectural styles, historical sights, cultural heritage and local traditions.

You will meet your guide near “Laima” chocolate factory clock, which is located on the square of the Monument of Freedom, where Latvians gather to remember those killed in the War of Independence.

The tour begins with a visit to Riga Panorama Observation deck at a so-called Stalin’s birthday cake building – one of few sites left from Soviet times heritage in Riga. From here your guide will give you an overview of the city, pointing out places of interest – ones that included in this tour and others you might want to visit separately.

Back on the ground, let’s have a short stroll through Riga’s Moscow district, Ghetto museum and creative neighborhood Spikeri. The track will lead us to Riga Central Market where one can get closer to everyday life of locals and maybe even taste some seasonal products sold here.

Afterwards we’ll walk to the major historical and cultural attractions in Old Riga, such as Riga Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church and Blackhead’s house. There is also plenty of time to see the Latvia National Opera, Parliament House and a medieval building complex “Three Brothers”. Don’t be too shy to ask your guide to point out the most authentic souvenir shops in Old Town or its surrounding. If you want to find out more about Latvia’s 50 years of occupation, the guide can show you the way to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, so you can visit it afterwards.

Riga city is well known of its Art Nouveau heritage. That’s why the tour will also lead you into this stunning area with excellent examples of Art Nouveau architecture. Your guide can help you to arrange dinner in one of the charming restaurants in the district. Just ask!

Let’ s hop on a bus to get to the final stop of this tour. Your guide will lead you to a more off-the-beaten track area – creative neighborhood located in just about 10 minutes’ drive from city center. Also known as the most hipster area of Riga, this neighborhood gathers various local business, including small bookshops, art galleries, bars and cafes. The famous chocolate Latvian factory “Laima” is also located here. To finish the tour, we’ll grab some delicious locally brewed beer and a snack to have a chat about today’s experiences.
